Before Ian Mckellan got into the role of Gandalf it was offered to Sean Connery first but he turned down the role. He turned down the role because he did not know the story and he figured out that the movies were too long and he was getting old about the time. So his last movie was The Leauge Of Extraordinary Gentlemen which my family is going to watch with me one day. So when they hired Ian Mckellan he was only 62 when he was in The Lord Of The Rings he was up for the challenge because he read The Lord Of The Rings when he was young so it was easy for him to do The Lord Of The Rings. But when Ian Mckellan did The Hobbit it was a little bit harder for him because he did not read The Hobbit books only The Lord Of The Rings.
